Now we’re looking for Tax Specialist to bring business growth to Softline’s interface. You’ll be a part of our India Division.

Job overview:

Within the assigned region, this individual will provide technical tax advice and tax support with respect to direct and indirect tax matters. The individual will anticipate business needs, new tax requirements, and be one a key person involved in relationships with the tax authorities in India. The individual will continually review the tax position of the group companies in India taking account IFRS accounting, local statutory accounting and local taxation. The individual could also be involved in the international tax matters on a case by case basis.

What you’ll do:

• With respect to direct and indirect income tax matters within the assigned region:

  • Review and analyze complex business transactions; discern and document tax sensitive issues; conduct and document technical research to determine the most advantageous tax position available, identify and document alternatives and communicate results in a timely, organized, clear and comprehensive manner.
  • Review, analyze and provide support with respect to tax audits.
  • Update and review all direct and indirect tax positions on an on-going basis and as part of the quarter close reserve process.
  • Interact and conduct negotiations with tax authorities in the region under the supervision of the Regional Tax Manager of Head of Tax.
  • Manage outside tax counsel and other tax advisors with respect to planning, audit and other projects.
  • Monitor the tax aspects of the company’s dividend policy. Proactively advise business partners if a more tax efficient policy or arrangement is appropriate. Review and advise on impact of dividends and loans.
  • Work with the Transfer Pricing team to ensure all transfer pricing requirements and related documentation requirements are satisfied.
  • Prepare, review and/or manage tax ruling requests, tax programs, structures.
  • Interact with and provide advice to country and regional groups at all levels regarding specific technical tax matters and their impact on the business.
  • Review, analyze and summarize court decisions, legislation and administrative regulations to advise management as to the impact on the company. Recommend and implement actions to mitigate or benefit from changes.
  • Be involved in planning opportunities and tax saving projects under the supervision of the Regional Tax Manager or Head of Tax.
  • Responsibility for continuous process improvement in respect of all taxation matters.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time within the region or globally.
  • Interactions with customers and vendors on all taxation matters.

About you:

• 4-7 years of professional working experience with a strong focus on business planning/project management;
• Fluent English;
• Experience in establishing, coordinating and driving large-scale projects such as post-merger integrations, JV set-ups and / or divestitures;
• Experience in business assessments and planning, for example financial analysis, operational maturity assessment, business case development, navigating change management initiatives through complex stakeholder landscapes.

  3-5 years in the Tax Department of a Big4 or multi-national corporation

  Education:

  • Chartered Accountant

  
  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent tax compliance and advisory experience for multinational companies
  • Strong accounting and tax reporting background in a multinational environment
  • Strong working knowledge of tax compliance processes, from data extraction to return submission with focus on data integrity and global compliance automation and process solutions
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with ability to make decisions and recommendations
  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex technical issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of tax accounting of India and at least basic knowledge of transfer pricing
  • Tax audit experience from a taxpayer perspective
  • Experience working with auditors and the tax authorities
