Projects Overview
The marketer will be responsible to develop, execute, and monitor marketing campaigns
and promotions across channels. This includes researching the market, analyzing trends
and competition to understand the best practices in the given domain, curating the
content, liaising with the designers to develop and execute the marketing promotion to
achieve the marketing objectives and goals.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
You are expected to assist in planning and execution of the marketing strategies
developed for SAGE Journals, SAGE Digital Products and SAGE e-Vidya as per the
yearly/monthly/weekly plan. These are created aiming to exceed any revenue target,
keeping customer centricity at the core of every decision and maintaining cost-
effectiveness and measurability. This includes:
1. Marketing materials: You will undertake the creation of marketing materials (print
and electronic), including catalogues, email campaigns, brochures, leaflets,
advertisements, posters and flyers, collateral for events, website content, online
ads for the promotion of SAGE products and services listed above as per the yearly
marketing objectives.
a. This will involve collation, compilation, editing and proofreading of content
b. Coordination with the design team to get the required collateral within the
specified deadlines as per the brief provided. You will also be responsible
for checking the final files before sending it to print.
c. Optimizing the marketing channels and lead nurturing processes through
email, content, and social channels
d. Analyse the effectiveness of the campaigns and continuously strive to
improve the campaigns’ efficacy and thereby create leads in form
subscriptions/purchase
e. You will coordinate with the Warehouse division (for printed collateral) and
Marketing Database stream (for electronic promotions) to ensure timely
dispatch of all campaigns.
2. Social Media posts: You will be responsible for primarily promoting SAGE journals,
Digital products and SAGE e-vidya on all social media platforms including
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and potentially additional channels (Quora, Slideshare
etc.). This will include
a. Strategy, Planning, Execution and Monitoring: Create
yearly/monthly/weekly plan for social in consultation with your manager,
implement and monitor the progress to take corrective actions if needed.
b. Content marketing: Prepare shareable and engaging content
(image+content) every week/monthly basis as appropriate for the specific
network to both spread our brand and our content and links. This included
i. Creating posts+creative for SAGE India Main social media handles
(Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) -15-21 posts per week
ii. Manage completely the SAGE Encapsulate page on Linkedin -14 post
per week
iii. Manage completely “Call for Papers Facebook Group” – 5-6 per
posts per month
iv. Create and post content on Individual Jounrals Facebook page – 104
posts per month
v. Provide the creative and content for the Global Twitter channels
quarterly- 90 posts per quarter
c. Global and SAGE India Digest Blogs: Create reader-friendly blogs from SAGE
India Journal articles, keeping a limit of 600-700 words. Cooridate with the
internal department and editors as needed – 130 blog posts
d. Pushing our content to Discipline-Hubs to get featured. – Quarterly
e. Explore new ways to engage and new social networks to reach our target
customer
3. Editor management: You will act as a SPOC for journals marketing and present
information in meetings, with a thorough understanding of the products/customer
channel, target markets, and sales expectations. You will be creating and share
marketing plans/Publisher report for journals and digital products as needed.
4. Communication: You will need to build effective working relationships with editors,
inter and intra-department colleagues, customers, potential customers and third party
services and manage end to end communication to foster the journals marketing
programs
5. Events: You will also be responsible for managing and leading all events of journals and
digital products such as conferences/webinar/ conference/ sponsorships/ book fairs
(including world book fair and Kolkata bookfair) and workshops etc by liaising directly
with sales/editors/journals commissioning as required within the set budget.
6. Sales and marketing alignment: You will work closely with members of the sales
team (pan India) to keep them posted about the promotions of the products and
services. Also, ensure that they receive quantities of all digital/printed promotional
materials and coordinate with the warehouse division for the timely dispatch of
promotional materials as necessary.
7. Database sourcing: You will assist in sourcing new databases, post information on
relevant online forums and discussion groups.
8. Promotional events: You will also identify conference, online sessions/webinar, or
exhibition opportunities where SAGE products can be showcased or promoted and
share it with your supervisor for consideration. You will be expected to attend any
relevant events from time-to-time as necessary.
9. Website and Online promotions: You will check from time to time that information
about SAGEJournals, digital products and SAGE e-vidya are regularly updated on all
the SAGE websites and other online portals. Besides, you are expected to provide
content for the corporate website and SAGE Journals online .
10. Reporting: You will assist your supervisor in creating a Monthly report/quarterly
and yearly report on the products and services listed above. You will be working as
per a weekly task list which will be aligned to the approved plan of activities for
SAGE Journals and digital products. You will submit a daily as well as a weekly
report to the Assistant Manager–Academic books and Journals, detailing tasks
completed along with timelines. The report shall also highlight any deviations from
planned activities along with reasons for the said deviations
11. Other skills:
a. You will be responsible for the fulfilment of all/any activities/tasks assigned
to you by your superiors, and take them to completion. This includes
working closely with the other streams within Marketing, and inter-
department on collaborative projects.
b. Build and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships, in
partnership with Assistant Manager–Academic books and Journals, senior
marketing management and other business teams (e.g. Journals managing
and comissioning, sales).
c. You are expected to follow and adheres to the guidelines followed as per
the SAGE Value document.
d. You will ensure that the company’s assets given to you from time-to-time
are maintained suitably and forwarded/returned to your superiors/relevant
department as required.
e. You will undertake any other activities in addition to the above as and when
needed and instructed by your superiors.
