The FCS Trading Fees organization, within the Operations department, is responsible for the reconciliation, control and expense management for ?Listed Derivatives? trading related fees, communication with brokers, exchange and clearing houses, MS Operations, Finance and Business Unit groups; reconciliation and processing of brokerage receivables and payables, reconciliation of global exchange and ccp fees, month end financial close tasks, reporting, variance and trend analysis, GL account reconciliation, and delivering on ad hoc requests from Operations management and other Business Units.
Responsibilities will include:
Responsible for all aspects of the supervision and oversight of Trading Fees for the ?Listed Derivatives? Business Unit. Listed Derivatives is part of the Morgan Stanley Institutional Securities Group.
Manage a Trading Fees supervisory team (4 fte)
Supervise, guide and direct a Trading Fees reconciliation group (23 fte)
Oversight of the ?Listed Derivatives? General Ledger including Balance Sheet and Expense reconciliation, ensuring monthly posting are accurate and all controls are effectively in place. This involves effective management of $0.6bn expenses, $0.5bn commissions and circa $100mm balance sheet.
Ownership and management of the Trading Fees control framework ensuring all daily/weekly/monthly controls and key supervisory tasks are effectively managed.
Manage key relationships with stakeholders in the Business, Operations, Finance and Technology.
Oversee the distribution, communication and support for all regional regular daily/monthly control reporting
Interact with internal Operations & Finance colleagues, external counter-parts to resolve brokerage, exchange and clearing related issues
MS Industry brokerage FIATech contact, attending and providing value add to industry forums.
Continuous review of internal data versus actual expense reconciliations to help identify areas of improvement, lead remediation projects.
Contribute to regular expense reviews to help identify areas of savings and implement initiatives to drive improved profitability for the firm.
Active contribution to automation and optimization of current processes, and harmonization/standardization of processes across regions
Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests to internal and external stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related fields
5-10 years of experience preferably in Operations and /or Finance
Listed Derivatives product knowledge ideal.
Interest in banking and the financial markets
Accounting qualification a plus.
Excellent spoken and written English
Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, work under pressure, meet challenging deadlines and capability to build and maintain effective business relationships
Strong analytical and technical skills, proficient in use of MS Office especially Excel
Capable of understanding processes, client needs and the aptitude to propose and lead solutions
Pro-active attitude, Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to understand, define, enhance and manage complex processes
