About the Role:
The International Accounting Lead in India will report to the Accounting Manager located in the US and is responsible for managing internal and external reporting needs, as well as developing and managing the accounting process across international support channels. Our ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment. Working in a different time zone from the Company’s US based operations, the ideal candidate will work well independently while also working to ultimately build a team around them. Once established, the International Accounting Lead will manage, train, and coordinate a first class international accounting team that is able to grow and adapt quickly to best support the Company’s international operations. This candidate may also serve as an informal site lead for future finance team members in India and serve as part of the extended leadership team.
What you’ll be doing:
Assist in developing the Company’s international accounting principles, practices, and procedures
Establish and maintain procedures related to revaluation of foreign currency balances, non-USD currency translation and related adjustments
Ensure that intercompany transactions and transfer pricing calculations are consistent with executed agreements, meet the requirements of the Company’s business and tax planning strategies, and are properly documented and entered onto each entity’s monthly accounting records
Coordinating monthly and quarterly close processes for all international subsidiaries, prepare and record necessary elimination entries and perform reconciliation of all intercompany balances
Preparing monthly global consolidations in a timely, accurate and complete manner
Recruit, hire, and ultimately supervise a team of up to three to four individuals. This team will be critical in supporting billing and collections, budgeting, international payroll, and general accounting processes.
Support international in-country tax teams and local service providers to meet international regulatory and tax compliance needs, including VAT/GST and maintaining proper documentation for local country tax refunds/credits
Partner with local service providers as needed to review and coordinate international statutory filings, including bridging statutory financial and tax books to U.S. GAAP
Process payroll using ADP Celergo for each international subsidiary
Set up and monitor international cash management and funding requirements
Process vendor payments from each international bank account on a weekly basis
Assist the US Accounting team with account reconciliations as needed
Recommends process improvements to the various systems and initiates corrective action with relevant departments.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce (B.Com), accounting, finance or related fields
5 years of progressive experience in accounting including some supervisory experience
Experience working with international subsidiaries and transfer pricing
Experience reviewing, preparing and reconciling multi-currency, inter company consolidation accounts
CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification preferred; other relevant certifications a differentiator
Netsuite experience preferred
ADP Celergo experience a plus
Excellent computer and excel skills
Prior experience in a high growth technology company is highly desired
Comprehensive and current understanding of US GAAP and international accounting standards (IFRS or other local accounting standards), and multiple currency environments
Ability to effectively delegate and manage multiple projects amidst competing priorities
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment
Ability to work collaboratively across the organization and with external stakeholders
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
