About the role:
As Accountant II– You play a key role in managing the Life and Health Intragroup Retrocession (IGR) financial processes and ensuring the timely production of Life IGR financial statements. You are furthermore responsible to support the payments run of all Life IGRs.
Additional tasks include the controlling of the IGR results and ad hoc provision of comprehensive IGR variance analysis.
During the quarterly closing process you have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from other Finance Units and Finance IT to whom you will provide comprehensive analysis on specific transactions.
Working in a motivated and experienced team in a dynamic environment, you’ll gain insight into various aspects of Life reinsurance.

  • Responsible for the accurate implementation of Life IGR contracts within our finance system landscape and testing thereof
  • Coordinating timelines of quarterly financial production of Life IGRs
  • Production and timely submission of Life IGR financial statements
  • Responsible for the quarterly reporting to all counterparties
  • Responsible for the quarterly payments in collaboration with Treasury
  • Analyse quarterly financial statements in respect of accuracy and completeness
  • Support the overall IGR process management
  • Support team in process documentation and helps in creation of SOP’s
  • Ad hoc support in providing expert reports and analysis to our key stakeholders
  • Perform other position related tasks as instructed by Supervisor

  • Provide cover for roles in other teams
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as required from time to time
About the team:
The Subledger Processing L&H team in Bangalore within the Financial Accounting Technical department, is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting of reinsurance technical balances (premiums, claims, commissions, reserves) for the Life & Health business.

The Financial Accounting Technical department in Finance Reinsurance is responsible for the close process. Financial Reporting responsibility for technical P&L and Balance Sheet accounts in all economic valuations (EVM, SST, SII). Analysis of the movements, aggregation of accounting technical & business analysis and explanation to internal clients / stakeholders

About you:
  • Semi Qualified Accountant/MBA Finance with 07 years of experience (of which 3 years minimum experience in a role relevant to Accounting or Financial Reporting), with good understanding of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
  • Experience in working in a complex process environment
  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams
  • Experienced with accounting / reporting systems
  • Knowledge of US GAAP is a plus
  • Willingness to develop an understanding of Swiss Re Group systems architecture for non-life business across all valuations
  • Strong process & control orientation to enable delivery of quality output within short deadlines
  • Good MS Office skills required
  • Demonstrate personal accountability and dedication for area of responsibility
  • Team player, good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English is necessary
  • Insurance or reinsurance accounting experience preferred
