We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President-Financial Accounting- Automation
Principal responsibilities:
The role holder will support a transformational project which changes the way HSBC manages financial accounting around ‘Value in Use (VIU)’. He/She will report to Head of Financial Accounting – Holding Plc, Germany, VIU based in India. An experienced and senior individual is required with techno-functional skills to drive this program given the newness and recent SOX deficiency recorded.
Role holder will be required to manage multiple responsibilities involving interaction with several business areas, the role holder will have a higher degree of responsibilities across multiple countries with larger spans of control and complexity
The jobholder will not be subject to close supervision so will be expected to proactively drive the program, overcome obstacles to success with minimal guidance.
The role is expected to cover the following areas of responsibility:

• Key responsibility is to standardize and centralize the calculation model and effective coordination with senior finance stake holders across all regions. The responsibility will extend to cover other areas of automation as identified by FA leads.
• Leverage existing technologies like Excel – VBA, RPA tool – Xceptor, Python or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools based on the processes as agreed with SMEs
• Delivery of models and computations that are needed as part of transformational automation. This would include helping in designing of the automation framework, development and testing of automation solutions
• Understanding of Google Cloud will be required to ensure future alignment with FOTC (Finance on the Cloud) automation platform
• Works jointly with Financial Accounting Leads across Regions and the legal entity teams to ensure that the processes are SOX complaint, reflecting accepted regulatory policy and standards with transparent and robust control procedures that withstand internal and external scrutiny
• Coordinate with Controls team to seek necessary approval and establish controls around the automated process as mandated by guidelines
• Manage Auditors for substantiation of the calculations in the model, the data robustness and for query management
• Help define the Business As Usual (BAU) process post development
• Build strong global relationships with Regional and Global Heads adopting a joined up approach, to deliver business requirements at pace
• Brief senior stakeholders (such as Global Head of Operational Accounting and Group Head of Financial Reporting) on production, project plans and impact assessments of regulatory and financial risk
• Build strong relationships with Transformation programme/project leads to support delivery of end to end to end transformation
• Maintain contact with stakeholders to identify and communicate business performance, status and potential risks
• Maintain ongoing interaction with Regional Heads to understand how changes may impact and influence risk
• Acting as technical Subject Matter Expert to support the wider business to ensure commonality and consistency of solutions
• Proactively contributes to effective teamwork within Regional and Global head of Operational Accounting
• Ensure Planning & Service Management processes are effective and propose improvements/efficiencies as required
• Compliance with external reporting/regulatory requirements, internal control standards and group compliance policy. The tools will need to be in sync as to utilize any downtime created by volume fluctuations
• Timely implementation recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators

Qualifications
Requirements

• Experienced in technical solution development, design and delivery of solutions in Finance domain using technologies for automation and analytics over 8 years
• Exposure to technologies like Excel-VBA, SQL / No-SQL, BigData, Reporting tools (Qlik/Tableau/ Looker) Analytics tools like Python, or Robotic Process Automation tools like Xceptor or a combination of few will be required
• Experience of developing solution on Cloud will be an added advantage – like Google Cloud (GCP) or other cloud technologies will be added advantage
• Experienced transformational professional with technology solution architecting / implementation experience with exposure to financial services is required
• Experience of a range of businesses and operational processes across the breadth of the financial services will be beneficial like knowledge of Accounting standards especially IAS 36, IFRS 16, IAS 16 and IAS 38
• Ability develop solutions across a mix of technologies will be key to success of the role
• Strong ability to anticipate, identify and mitigate risks and apply appropriate controls over accounting processes while transforming using technology
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and experience of translating data into meaningful analysis
• Ability to identify and implement change and challenge the status quo.
• Good written and spoken communication skills an ability to communicate with impact and guide others
