BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW
The Controllers group is responsible for safeguarding the firm’s assets: to help maintain the integrity of Goldman Sachs’ finances and expenditures. Through careful consideration and analysis of firm finances, objectives and strategies, we ensure that the firm’s businesses continue to be profitable and efficiently run. Controllers also ensure that all business practices are in compliance with financial and regulatory requirements worldwide. Since contact with virtually every part of the firm is essential to Controllers, professionals in the department experience Goldman Sachs businesses, products and sophisticated technology systems in depth.
The candidate will support legal entity controllers (LEC) function for Asia Pacific entities. The LEC’s are assigned one or more entities for which they are responsible, specifically, for the accuracy and fair presentation of their entity(s)’ financial information and disclosures (including standalone financial statements). The LEC essentially acts as the “CFO” of his/her entity(s) and has a “vertical” / generalist view of the entity. As such, the LEC needs to obtain comfort that procedures are in place to ensure the existence of a control structure to safeguard the Firm’s (entity’s) assets and enable the timely and accurate reporting of the entity’s financial information and disclosures in conformity with US GAAP as well as any additional local requirements. The LEC team is primarily responsible for preparing GAAP compliant financial statements and ensuring the accuracy of books and records from a legal entity perspective.
RESPONSIBILIITES:
. Ensure that financial reporting is of high quality and meets applicable accounting principles and regulations
. Perform control functions of financial reporting while working closely and managing relationships with Product Control, Corporate treasury, Operations, Tax & Technology
. Manage the regular preparation and submission of consolidated and non-consolidated US GAAP financial reporting and disclosures (local GAAP wherever required)
. Provide variance analysis and prepare management reporting packs on monthly/quarterly basis
. Manage the quarterly Balance Sheet substantiation & SOX process
. Support intercompany balances, reconciliations, daily funding payments and resolving breaks Manage month -end process to properly reflect the Balance Sheet, P&L and Owner’s Equity
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
. Qualified CA with 0-1 year of experience
. Basic industry knowledge and strong accounting knowledge.
. Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS is a definite plus.
. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
. Strong analytical skills
. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, tools and utilities for business use
