US Business Tax – Tax Consultant I/Tax Consultant II

Deloitte Tax Services India Private Limited commenced operations in June 2004. Since then, nearly all of the Deloitte Tax LLP (“Deloitte Tax”) U.S. service lines and regions have obtained support through Deloitte Tax in India. Deloitte Tax in India offers you opportunities to learn and support practice U.S. taxation, a much sought-after career option. In recent years, member firms, such as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, etc. have obtained support in their tax related practice through the Deloitte Tax in India.

Work you’ll do
Our US tax practice is unique in that it is the only US tax group that offers a comprehensive cross section of tax services to US clients investing or operating overseas and non-US clients with investments or business interest in the US.
You would be working with our London based US Business Tax team members (i.e. 60+ US tax professionals based permanently in the UK) and will enjoy the unique opportunity to broaden your network across the UK firm as a whole. This dynamic group provides exposure to an unrivalled client portfolio of multinational companies and a variety of tax work including compliance and consulting projects.
To list some of key responsibilities: –
✓ Accurate preparation and review of US Corporation and Partnership Tax returns and computations across a range of industries using the standard procedures.
✓ Preparing preliminary forms and financial statements for taxpayers classified as partnerships or corporations under the US law including forms 5471, 8865, 8858, PFIC calculations and Form 8621.
✓ Working with an integrated partner/manager/assistant manager team on large corporate and partnership transactions, restructurings and sizeable US tax compliance engagements for multinational clients
✓ Requesting and chasing tax information from clients and third parties
✓ Researching and understanding numerous topics related to tax treaties between the US and other countries. Advising clients with appropriate tax planning strategies in accordance to their current situation
✓ Communicating with clients to explain positions taken on tax returns, payment instructions, etc
✓ Demonstrating technical knowledge in US tax law applicable to grade
The Team
Deloitte India (Offices of the U.K) US Tax Compliance Group based in Hyderabad specializes in three core areas: US corporation and partnership federal tax return preparation, electronic filing of the returns and research and writing tax technical memorandums on a range of topics related to US corporate and partnership taxation in an international context. On taking up a position with the US team you will have the opportunity to focus on at least two of these core specialisms.
The London based member firm US Tax Team are the largest full service US international tax advisory team outside of the continental US, with a team of 60+ permanent professionals at all grades from Partner to new analyst who are all trained as US CPA’s, Lawyers and/or MBA graduates from US universities.
The size and experience of our team members means that we are uniquely placed to provide both advisory and compliance services for US clients investing or operating overseas and non-US clients with investments or business interest in the US.
We serve a wide variety of clients with US tax connections, including:
- Non-US businesses establishing in the US, existing businesses with significant US operations, or businesses seeking US investors;
- US owned European/non-US private equity, real estate, hedge and other fund investments located outside of the US (and provide both advisory / US reporting to said investors – e.g. K-1s, PFIC statements, tax return filings, FIRPTA filings, etc);
Qualifications Required:
✓ Full time Bachelors/master’s degree in finance or equivalent from reputed University
✓ 1 to 9 years of experience in US Corporate and Partnership Tax return
✓ Strong accounting knowledge and interest in US tax
✓ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
✓ High level of attention to detail & well organized
✓ Can work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
✓ Work collaboratively in a team, providing assistance and support to others, when needed
✓ Knowledge of Microsoft Office products — In particular, Excel and Word
✓ Extensive US corporation and partnership tax work in Real Estate OR Private Equity industries will be added advantage
✓ Knowledge of US income tax software’s will be added advantage
