Aon is currently recruiting an Insurance Officer to join our team in Burlington Vermont. The Insurance Officer will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day servicing of a portfolio of captive insurance accounts, ensuring that the clients and their (re) insurance partners and service providers needs are proactively met, and working with team members to ensure the companies remain in compliance with regulatory requirements.

About the Role
As an Insurance Officer some of your key responsibilities will involve;
- Overseeing the day-to-day insurance related needs of a portfolio of clients from varied industries, including but not limited to, partnering with the client, broker and legal counsel to craft and/or evaluate insurance policy terms and conditions as well as contrast written coverage to outgoing/ceded reinsurance, when applicable
- Serve as the primary contact for the client (risk management and claim department) and other service providers (auditors, actuary, claims adjusters) on insurance related matters
- Ensuring quality, timeliness, and efficient organization of insurance and reinsurance documentation
- Coordinating efforts with outside brokers/consultants to meet clients’ needs
- Coordinating efforts with the internal client service team to insure a comprehensive and dovetailed approach to meeting the clients’ needs
- Communicating with state regulators in regards to changes to the client business plan
- Preparing and presenting materials during client board meetings, ensuring quality and inclusion of value added information
About You
As an Insurance Officer your skills and qualifications will ideally include;
- Experience with most property and casualty lines of business.
- Hands on brokerage and/or underwriting experience or similar background.
- Captive experience preferred and CPCU designation or equivalent a plus
- Proven ability to service clients and meet their needs on a consistent basis, with a high level of responsiveness to both internal and external clients
- Ability to converse with clients to explain, negotiate or breakdown issues and see the “big picture” while also not losing sight of the details.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment and able to develop good working relationships within the Aon network.
- Ability to coordinate activities with varied service providers, negotiating issues when necessary
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Organized and able to multi-task with ability to effectively re-prioritize tasks as needed, managing several projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to increase productivity via improved methods and approaches
- Demonstrated effectiveness in presentations to clients
- Effective communicator, both verbal and written
- Awareness of own strengths and weaknesses, and proactively able to build on the former while addressing the latter, under guidance of management
- Contribute to a collaborative, innovative and forward-thinking office.
